Libertarians in NW Michigan to Meet in Traverse City Tuesday, October 17th

There are a few good Libertarians in Northwest Michigan working towards becoming an official affiliate of the Libertarian Party of Michigan.

We hope to unite state and national Libertarians who live in the following counties: Charlevoix, Antrim, Leelanau, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Benzie, Manistee, Wexford, and Missaukee Counties. Those in unaffiliated surrounding counties are also welcome!!

We hold monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month in Traverse City. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17th at Schelde’s Bar and Grill, 714 Munson. The meeting starts at 7:00, though 6:30 is social time.

We are energized by the fact that the Libertarian Party of Michigan now has “official party status” in Michigan based on last year’s election. This means that the rules have changed! It’s time to get behind some Libertarian candidates on a local level. We have already had many people starting to run for political positions at the local level.

What are the current plans?
At the last meeting, Tim Yow, Affiliate Director of the Michigan Libertarian party discussed how we can build our group to become an official Libertarian Party Affiliate. Our affiliate’s goals would include supporting the local Libertarian candidates, and helping to promote Libertarian ideas in Northwest Michigan.

Before we become an affiliate, our group needs a few more committed members to volunteer for various officer positions before we can become official. At this next meeting, we will discuss strategies to grow the local party, and promote Libertarian ideas.

To find out if your beliefs might fit into our party, take the World’s Smallest Political Quiz, or see the Libertarian party Platform.

We hope to see you on October 17th at 7:00 at Schelde’s Bar and Grill, 714 Munson, Traverse City.
